UNIDO ITPO Tokyo, jointly with Embassy of the Republic of Tajikistan in Japan, organized a Tajikistan Business Seminar on 8 February 2024. H.E. Mr. Mirzosharif Jalolov, Ambassador of the Republic of Tajikistan to Japan, mentioned in his Keynote Presentation about Tajikistan’s economic growth, key economic sectors such as hydropower, agricultural processing, tourism, mining and processing of metals, stones, polymetallic, and construction materials as well as investment opportunities, noting that the five Free Economic Zones (FEZ) established in the country provide a business-friendly environment.
Mr. Kohei Katada, Chief Financial Officer of Gojo & Company, Inc., introduced their microfinance business in Tajikistan, and Mr. Koshi Akao, General Manager of International Business Division, Cokey System Co., Ltd., shared information about their Crude Glycyrrhizic Acid (CGA) business the company has established in a joint venture with a local company and the challenges and future business perspectives. During the Q&A session, several questions were raised on the country’s solar energy and education industry. Followed by active networking between the speakers and seminar participants, they enjoyed the tasting of Tajik national snacks, sweets, and dried fruits provided by the Embassy.
